These days, if you are thinking of making a web page you can do all you need right from your browser window, no other tools are needed. If you hire someone like me to setup a Content Management System (CMS) then all you have to do is enter its administration, and add a page or post. What you are reading here right now is done with a program called WordPress.

WordPress is an Open Source program that lets you choose a Theme for the site’s appearance and then you write your pages or posts for its content. It is used widely so there are thousands of themes available both at no cost and for a charge. Also there are thousands of Plugins to choose from to add capabilities such as calendars, lists, photos and more to your site.

Using WordPress is my first recommendation to anyone starting to enter the world of creating web pages. At the time of this writing WordPress runs almost a third of all websites on the Internet! When an Open Source program is so popular it means there are people all over the world who can work with it and keep it up to date 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
